What's up?  Here I am.  Just a girl walking down an ordinary street, and POW! The PAPS are out. How am I just supposed to BE. You know what I mean?

ANYWAY

The impetus for this crazy random shot was to show off a few of my most recent gifted items such as the Coach Pinnacle Bag and the AllSaints Hepburn Coat.  I am literally in love with myself in this coat. I mean, who wouldn't be?  

And let's discuss the bag.  Can we keep it real for a second?  I thought that my affinity for Coach items went out with my leather change purse in high school.*  I am very happy to say that I was wrong (it doesn't happen much - enjoy!). 

 

PLEASE I need my space.

This is the first structured bag I have owned in many many years and what do you know? Things stay in place!  I am very excited about this.  Plus I think it's dope.

My boots are Elizabeth and James from last winter which I copied from cast member Rachel (no longer on sale).  Have you noticed that some of E&J shoes are hard to balance on?  I feel like an elephant on point shoes (but that's not necessarily the reason).  Alas, I still wear them often.

 

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.

and finally....my hat.  I wear a slouchy hat most of the year so I don't have to wash my hair every day for many reasons.  I hesitate to tell you how to find this B.E.A.U.T. but since we are close, youse guys and me, it is Eugenia Kim available at Shopbop.com.

SMARKETING: JORDACHE THRU THE YEARS

 

Just ran across a critique of this Jordache commercial on Styleite and I completely disagree.  Which is a first for me and Styleite. 

You see kids, on a normal day I look forward to approx 0 emails from fashion publications (not including blogs, natch) inmybox.*  EXCEPT Styleite.  They are called Style Bites and I like to take a giant chomp out of their perfectly crafted stories.  Not too gossipy, not too hard core industry (we ain't curing cancer people) = all parts happy brain break.

This commerch features that hot a$$ girl from 30 Rock in a "through the years" montage.  I don't know 'bout you but I'm feelin' it, hook line and sinkHER.

PS - I guess they are avail at Walmart.  I am going to check them out for y'all to do your own vetting.  (rant alert) I would MUCH rather do that than ever stand in line for a capsule collection at well, anywhere.  Aren't these collections supposed to be for those who can't afford the brand on the regular?  I GET the buzz (I'm in the buzzbiz and I am not dead) but that story is over now.  I would be happy to cover a collection that I have time to look at. Just a thought, marketing people.

DECADES HITS CHICAGO: YOU WANT SOMMA THIS?

 

It is no secret that I would rather vintage shop then shop retail anydayoftheweek.  Whilst in LA I would frequent Decades like it was my job.  Ironically, now that I am a full time fashion and pop culture bloggerer and founder of Chicago Blogger Network (have I mentioned that yet??? Shhh.) it sorta is my job.  

Well kids, a little birdie told me that these masters of vintage are coming back to Chicago. The event will be Sat/Sun Oct 15/16.  Here is a little sneak peak of what we will be seeing.  Invite deets are at the bottom of the post.

I have a feeling that member Dana of Woodstock Wardrobe may be my partner in crime that weekend.

REFINERY29 HIGHLIGHTS CHICAGO STYLE BLOGGERS

 

For my money, I think Refinery29 has been an amazing addition to the Chicago Fashion Industry.  Prior to my stint in LA (where I read the LA edition) there just wasn't a website with this dedication to the world many of us live in.

While I don't necessarily condone this sort of self promotion*, I really enjoyed returning to TV for some trend reporting.  Whatwithmypreviousillnessandall, I had to take a hiatus from this sort of thing.

This segment was all about Chicago Designers (Spring/Summer 2011) but the kicker is that the "models" ARE the designers!  See how I did that?  Abacadabra!! Jazz Hands!

TOPSHOP MAKEUP LAUNCHES IN CHICAGO, WHENEVER IT OPENS

 

The buzzzzzzzzzz surrounding the opening of Topshop and Topshop MAN in Chicago is almost palpable at this point. Can't you hear the internal screams of Fashionistas from here to Wilmette?

Ok, well maybe you just aren't listening.  

Or whatever.

The latest morsel of goss for y'all to hang on to is that Topshop has chosen Chicago to launch* their first Makeup Up Collection.  ANNND there will be some items that are exclusive to Chicago.  

Not only an excellent PR move surrounding this store opening but also an excellent PR move surrounding this store opening.  Well played.

*Fun(?) fact regarding my frequent usage of the word Launch.  In this biz it just so happens that we are always discussing some sort of Launch, and it reallllly bugs my non-industry related friends.  If I use it, it is pointed out loudly via phone/twitter/facebook and so forth. So much so that I now chuckle every time I say/write/think about it.  The end.
